Not necessarily, either you or someone on your behalf can deposit the application at our designated visa centers.
2.Can I pay fee through Cheque or Pay order?

Visa Fee & AEG Service Charges has to be paid in cash.
3.If I miss the interview date, what process should I follow?

You need to contact the visa center along with the visa receipt and get a new appointment date. Please note that in order to get new appointment; you have to pay AEG Service Charges.

It is mandatory to contact AEG Travel Services Offices at least 24 hours prior, to re - scheduled your appointment date to avoid waste of the interview slot and loss of the service charge already paid.
4.How can I get an urgent appointment date? And what process should I follow?

An urgent appointment request can be scrutinized by the French Embassy in some very limited cases (business visits mainly). You will have to send an email at visas.islamabad-amba@diplomatie.gouv.fr and fully explain (with justification documents enclosed) the reason for the emergency. Scan of your AEG receipt will have to be provided. Remember that you should always apply for appointment at least a month in advance (and up to 3 months in advance at the maximum)
5.While going for appointment, what can I take with me? Are there some restrictions?

6.How will I get my passport back after Biometrics/Interview ?

Upon interview, passport is retained by the French Embassy for processing. It is generally sent back to concerned visa center after minimum 02 weeks time. On receipt of passport, applicants will be notified for collection through our call centre within 24 Hours.
7.Can I make an enquiry about the status of the visa?

No. You must submit your visa application to the consular authority of the Schengen State where you will be spending the most time, the country which is in fact your main destination, so, in the present case, to the Italian consulate.
9. I want to spend some time in France, but my plane lands in Brussels. Which country must I apply to for a visa?

Although you are entering the Schengen Area via Belgium, your main destination is France. You must therefore apply for a visa from the French consulate. This visa is valid for entry into the Schengen Area via Belgium, unless it is marked otherwise on the visa sticker.
10. I am planning to attend a week-long seminar in Brussels and then spend the weekend with friends in France. Which consulate should I apply to for a visa?

The relevant consular authority is that of the country of main destination; even if you enter the Schengen Area at a French airport, you must apply for a visa from the Belgian embassy.
